Usually in August we get heavy rains in the mountains causing flash floods in the creek. This is a good thing for ME because it brings all the driftwood down into very easy, accessible areas for scavenging. In other words, I don't have to search very far for sticks! But this past August was pretty dry. So, I went stick hunting today up my beautiful creek.
I hiked an hour into a new section I've never explored before, looking for driftwood pile ups that I haven't already scavenged through. I found aplenty!. It was purely magical!
I felt purely magical! My soul* needs to be outside. My soul* needs to be in nature, away from all the things of the world. My soul* needs to connect with the plants and animals I see around me. I feel whole when I'm making these connections with sunshine, water, plants, and outdoor life. Self care looks different for everyone. This is mine. If I don't get outside I feel the weight of the world on my shoulders. Nature is where I release all my stress and feel free.
I not only find sticks on these excursions, I also find little pieces of myself out here.
